About Movie Reviews Vault
Honest reviews. No hype. Just cinema.
We Watch So You Don’t Have to Waste Two Hours
Movie Reviews Vault started with a simple frustration: too many review sites that hedge every opinion, bury the actual verdict, or write like they’re terrified of disagreeing with the consensus. We got tired of it.
So we built something different. A place where a movie gets called great when it earns it, and gets called a disappointment when it deserves that too. We don’t soften takes to avoid controversy, and we don’t inflate scores to stay cozy with studio PR cycles.
Our focus is the full range of cinema, blockbusters, indie darlings, foreign language films, streaming originals, and everything the algorithm buries. If it’s worth watching (or worth skipping), we’ll tell you exactly why.
We cover new releases as they hit theaters and streaming, revisit classics worth rediscovering, and occasionally dig into the movies nobody talks about anymore but absolutely should.
What We Cover
- New theatrical releases
- Streaming originals (Netflix, HBO, Prime, Hulu, Apple TV+)
- Classic and cult films
- International cinema
- Director spotlights
- Year-end best-of lists
How We Rate Movies
Our rating system runs from 1 to 10. A 7 means genuinely good, worth your time. A 5 means average, watch it if you have nothing better to do. Anything below a 4 comes with a warning. A 10 is rare and means the film is doing something most movies never attempt, let alone pull off.
We look at story, direction, performances, cinematography, pacing, and how a film holds together as a whole experience. A movie doesn’t have to be technically perfect to score high. It just has to be honest about what it’s trying to do and actually do it well.
Our Promise to Readers
We don’t accept payment for positive reviews. We don’t soften criticism because a studio sends us screeners. If we receive early access to a film, we’ll say so, but it never changes the score. Our credibility with you is worth more than a press invite.
Every review on this site is written by someone who genuinely watched the film, thought about it, and formed an actual opinion. We’re not aggregating scores from elsewhere or running AI summaries of Rotten Tomatoes. This is original criticism, written by people who care about movies.
